Welcome from Chris Wallace-Crabbe Chair, Australian Poetry

Chris Wallace-CrabbeIt is both exciting and an occasion of pride for Australian Poetry to join the Northern Territory Writers’ Centre in putting WordStorm on show. We flew the flag exuberantly at Goolwa last year, but now we move far north to join our tropical colleagues in a major festival of words and language.

Above all else, Australian Poetry seeks joint programs with other literary communities to make things happen in our national world of letters. And the bright array of writers in prose or poetry, not to mention our onstage comedians, will produce a rolling surf of excitement and stimulation.

Poetry speaks the nation in miniature, and across all our local cultures. Our voices will join a gallimaufry of others in exciting audiences with the electric charge of the creative word. WordStorm will contain anything you can imagine from the portmanteau of literature. It will be a red-letter event for you all, and we at Australian Poetry are delighted to be part of it: to be in the very thick of it all.

The four days of WordStorm will make this a year to remember.
